Dracaena
Temperature: Average warmth – minimum 55 F in winter. The easy types can withstand lower temperatures.
Light: Light shade is the best general position – close to an east or west window is an ideal spot. Some varieties, such as C.terminalis, must have good light, but tow – D.marginata and D.fragrans – will grow in shade.
Water: Keep compost moist at all times. Reduce watering in winter but do not let it dry out.
Air Humidity: Mist leaves regularly. Only D. draco and D.godseffiana can grow happily in dry air.
Repotting: Repot in spring every 2 years.
Propagation: There are several methods to choose from. Remove crown from old leggy canes and lant in Potting Compost; use a rooting hormone and provide bottom heat. Alternatively, air layer the crown before potting up. Pieces of stem 2 or 3 in long can be used as cane cuttings.
