Ficus or Rubber Plant
Temperature: Average warmth – minimum 55 F in winter.
Light: Bright spot for tree types, partially shaded site for others. A rubber plant will adapt to a few hours sunshine each morning, but this would be fatal to a Creeping Fig.
Water: Water with care. With tree types the compost must dry out to some extent between waterings. The trailing types require more frequent watering. Use tepid water and apply very little in the winter months.
Air Humidity: Mist leaves occasionally in summer. Misting is essential for trailing types.
Repotting: Avoid frequent repotting. Repot in spring every 2 years until the plant is too large to handle.
Propagation: Take stem cutting sin summer if stems are non-woody. Use a rooting hormone and provide bottom heat. Air layer woody varieties.
