Gloxinia
Temperature: Average warmth – minimum 60 F.
Light: Bright light away from direct sunlight.
Water: Keep compost moist at all times. Use tepid water – keep off leaves and flowers.
Air Humidity: Stand pot on a pebble tray or surround with damp peat. Occasionally mist air around the plant.
Care After Flowering: Reduce watering and stop feeding. Allow to dry out when leaves turn yellow – store pot at about 50 F. Repot tuber in fresh compost in spring – plant hollow side up with top of tuber level with compost surface. Keep warm and rather dry until leaves appear, then provide the recommended temperature, light and watering conditions described above.
Propagation: Sow seeds in spring or take leaf cuttings in early summer. |
