Split Leaf Philodendron (Monstera)
Temperature: Average warmth – minimum 50 F in winter. Active growth starts at 65F.
Light: Keep out of direct sunlight. Choose a spot in light shade or moderate brightness.
Water: During winter keep the soil just moist – make sure it is not waterlogged. For the rest of the year water thoroughly, but allow compost to become dryish between waterings.
Air Humidity: Mist leaves if room is heated. Occasionally wash and polish mature leaves.
Repotting: Transfer to a larger pot in spring every 2 years.
Propagation: When too tall remove tip in summer at a point just below a aerial root. Plant the cutting – the severed parent will continue to grow. Air layer as an alternative. |
